Beranger system balance
Trade balance of the Beranger system, in the vernacular referred to as "ducks", have always attracted the attention of collectors due to their traditionally rich decoration.
They owe their appearance to the French inventor Joseph Beranger. Circa in 1850, he proposed to improve the design of the balance of his predecessor, Gilles de Roberval, with the use of additional levers, which made it possible to increase the sensitivity of the device. The balances of the innovative design were put into mass production only in the early XX century. For a long time, they could be seen on the counters of Soviet shops. Photographs of ancient Beranger balances are presented in this section.
