Implementation of the metric reform in the USSR
On September 14, 1918, the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR adopted the decree "On the introduction of the international metric decimal system of weights and measures". In the decree, in particular, it was determined "to take a meter as the basis of a unit of length, and a kilogram as the basis of a unit of weight (mass)".
