The collection of street scales of the American collector Christopher Steele has about 200 exhibits. The collection was layed the foundation of in 1971. In those years, mechanical street scales almost disappeared from city streets. Recalling the events of that time, Christopher Steele ecstatically tells how his attention was attracted by the street scales in a white enameled case, made in the 1920s by the American company Peerless Weighing Machine Co. The rarity had impressed the future collector so much that he immediately contacted the owner thereof and offered to buy the scales. The purchase cost Christopher Steele $65, these scales became the first exhibit of his numerous collection. To date, the collection of Christopher Steele demonstrates the history of street scales since the 1880s, and the "youngest" exhibit is already a computerized model made in 1992.
